Friends of Oratau is a volunteer group set up by local resident Pete to help clear weeds and restore parts of Oratau reserve. The Oratau reserve runs from Orchard reserve off Almond Grove out to Lucas Creek, and is an important stream outlet and bird corridor.  Parts of the reserve are being overcome by a number of noxious weeds and needs our help.  Every Wednesday, Pete and a group of volunteers work in the reserve and welcomes others to join them. Meet at 9:30 am at the end of Oratau Place at the entrance to the Reserve

Join us. Come, get fit, care for our environment and meet some other people.

Activities that you can be involved with:

  •     Rescuing native plants from weeds
  •     Preparing sites for native plantings
  •     Planting native plants

No conservation skills/experience is required.  Equipment (secateurs, gloves, etc.) will be provided, but please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toed footwear.

Please bring a drink, morning tea will be provided.

In the event of bad weather, a note will be placed on the Greenhithe Ecology Network Facebook page and an email to those who have registered.
