St Johns volunteers deciding what to put into their ‘Grab Bag’ if they had to get out in a hurry. (Photo used with permission)
In late September the Greenhithe Emergency Resilience Group ran a Safety Expo alongside the Tauhinu Scout Pancake Breakfast. It was great to see a good turnout of the public keen to learn from the emergency services and various displays.
October is Be Prepared for Disaster Month. Whether it’s a weather bomb that takes out power, flooding that cuts off access to homes, or an earthquake that disables waterpipes and motorways – you will be better off if you are prepared. Do you have a grab bag ready? Do you have a fire escape plan? Do you know the 4 neighbours on each side of you?
A Resilient Greenhithe will give you some great ideas to be prepared and you can see it here https://greenhithecommunitytrust.org.nz/2019/03/26/emerging-greenhithe-emergency-response-plan/
