Have you noticed some weeds that are dying back and some news trees in various locations around Greenhithe?
Greenhithe Community Trust is delighted to have received some more funds and Auckland Council permissions and 400o trees from Trees That Count to get some more environmental restoration happening here. Removing weeds and restoring native forests is a huge task here and it is a bit like the proverbial eating of the elephant one mouthful at a time. But together we can do this!
SPECIAL THANKS to Greenhithe School students and Auckland Council for assistant with planting 850 seedlings in Wainoni Park. Wow!
SPECIAL THANKS to The Mazda Foundation for funds to prepare the Joe Clarke Wetland in Wainoni Park for planting. Thank you Tauhinu Scouts for planting 650 seedlings from Trees That Count – it looks great!
SPECIALS THANKS to the Steadfast Foundation for funds to prepare the Kyle Road gully for planting. Thank you National Blue Greens, Mitre 10 and Westlake Boys for planting 1500 seedlings from Trees That Count here – it looks amazing!
If you still want to plant trees dont forget about the weekly restoration groups (Oratau Reserve on Wednesdays, Wainoni Park on Thursdays, and Tauhini Reserve on Thursdays). See further info on our events page.
