“Hi I’m Nicola and I’ve been engaged by the Greenhithe Community Trust as the next Eco Facilitator thanks to Lotteries funding. Priscilla has left Greenhithe and we wish her all the very best. My role includes supporting you amazing volunteers who are restoring the native bush and streams in our backyards and reserves. Many of you have noticed various weedy and overgrown places in Greenhithe and we are in a good position to do something about it ourselves. Weed busting and planting together protects our environment and strengthens the community. It’s a great way to meet people and it’s fun too!

I am also arranging local workshops on all sorts of interesting environmental topics.

We now have a thriving Greenhithe Ecology Network. Our next gathering is June 19 at 7:30pm at the hub at 12 Greenhithe Road. The focus will be birds and how to do a bird count in your back yard in preparation for the NZ Garden Bird Survey. Plus we will work further on our very own Greenhithe Environmental Strategy.

If you are interested in being part of a restoration group, attending a workshop or are keen to start something in your own backyard, you can contact me at nicola@greenhithecommunitytrust.org.nz
